The Need To Create

As we emerged from the depths of the pandemic, I sought out a new mode of self-expression. I had dabbled in digital media and had my work exhibited in downtown Orlando and at the Rum 138 Gallery near High Springs, Florida. I’ve always been influenced by folk art; I love the resourcefulness and eccentricity of self-taught artists.

I also find taxidermy fascinating – it exhibits a creepy quality that entrances me. So to me it seems natural that I would begin to sculpt ceramic creatures that reflect those same qualities. I am constantly inspired by Old Florida and the critters who inhabit those few nooks and crannies that have not yet been developed. I am still learning this craft and enjoying every step along the way.
